Alzheimer's disease dramatically alters the dynamics between the diagnosed individual and his or her loved ones. Family and friends of persons with Alzheimer's frequently feel that their loved one is no longer the person he or she once was. This presentation provides caregivers with tools for effectively communicating and connecting with persons with dementia. Specifically, it will cover nonverbal vs. verbal communication, positive physical approach, person-centered approach and activity development.

This program will be offered at the February meeting of the newly formed Alzheimer's Association support group. The group will meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 11:30am at Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Lunch will be provided - RSVP is required to number below.
