Keynote
Importance of Positive Emotions for Caregivers- Janet Edmunson, M.ED
Poor emotional health and depression can weaken professional and family caregivers when faced with the day-to-day work of caregiving for someone with dementia. Research in positive psychology demonstrates that a healthier thinking style can be learned that fosters creativity and resilience. This session explores this exciting research as it applies to caregivers and their emotional health.

Legal Plans 101-Bill Hayes, JD
Legal planning is essential after a diagnosis of dementia. However, some families find this process daunting, and are not quite sure where to start. Attorney Bill Hayes will provide an overview of the legal documents needed when planning for the future, including power of attorney and healthcare directives. Additionally, participants will describe ways to begin the conversation about legal issues, and will identify the people who should be included in the conversation.

Navigating the Long-Term Care Maze- Don German, Care Partner; Cyndee Frey, RN,
Our panelists will discuss long-term care options available for persons with dementia. The panel will weigh-in on the ever-present question, ?????When is it time?????. While providing practical approaches to finding long-term care, panelists will also address the emotional impact this decision often has on caregivers.

Down & Dirty of Dementia- Sheila LoboPrabhu, MD
In this session, participants will gain an understanding of common illnesses among persons with dementia. This session will also identify the stages of Alzheimer?????s disease and discuss end of life issues. Participants will develop strategies for managing medication and co-morbidities of persons with dementia.

Practical Caregiving Tips- Brenda Carr
This session will offer practical tips on how to help people with dementia with everyday activities like eating, bathing, dressing and grooming.

Sexuality and Dementia- Floyd Robinson
The changes associated with dementia affect every aspect of life, including sexuality and intimacy. This presentation will explore the normal, human need for sexuality, for both the caregiver and for the person with dementia. This session will address the common concerns of what is ?????normal?????, what is ethical, and how to fulfill needs through touch and intimacy. Additionally, participants will identify when a person with dementia?????s sexual behavior may require intervention.

Closing
