This FREE program will explain when and how to use the 4 decision making tools depending on the person?????????????s level of incapacity and demonstrate how these tools will work in different situations, including end-of-life decisions. Participants will also learn how to recognize their role when making quality of life decisions for someone who can no longer speak for themselves.
About the Author
Viki Kind, MA is a clinical bioethicist, medical educator and hospice volunteer. Her book, ???????????The Caregiver?????????????s Path to Compassionate Decision Making: Making Choices for Those Who Can't,??????????? guides families and healthcare professionals through the difficult process of making decisions for those who are losing or have lost the ability to think. She has also been a caregiver for many years for four members of her family.
Objectives: - Examine the decision making critical pathway for those without capacity -Identify the framework and three tolls which will help the loved one in the decision making process. -Demonstrate how these tools will work in different situations, including end-of-life situations -Discuss how these tools respect the patient's culture and wishes
