February 6, 2007 has been proclaimed Alzheimer's Awareness Day
Texans will descend on the State Capital on February 6th to raise awareness
about Alzheimer's and other dementias. Activities will include an Advocacy
Rally in the Capital Rotunda at 10am, followed by visits to legislators
throughout the day.
A luncheon at the Austin Hilton Hotel will feature
Lt. Governor David Dewhurst presenting leadership awards, on behalf of
the Texas Council of Alzheimer's Disease, to State Senators Nelson,
Duncan, and Ogden. These senators will be recognized for their role in
sponsoring legislation to appropriate funds for Alzheimer's research in
Texas. Their efforts led to the first-ever funding of a $2 million Alzheimer's
Research Initiative during the last legislative session.
The following is the proclamation by Texas Governor Rick Perry.
